Stay at home with our live in care<\/h2>\n \n

Live-in care lets you live independently while maintaining a necessary level of support.<\/p>\n \n \n

Nicola came to Helping Hands through her transition from residential college into adult care<\/a> services. Having found and adapted her own flat, Nicola initially tried visiting care, but soon discovered that this did not meet her expectations of independent living, as it meant relying on her family for extra support. So, she approached social services to help appoint a live-in provider.<\/p>\n

Jo has been Nicola\u2019s main support worker since 2009 and it\u2019s clear that it\u2019s a partnership which works well. Whilst Jo keeps the flat clean and tidy, things such as meal planning are a joint effort.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

\n My Mum tells me she is happy knowing that I am with somebody who is \u2018looking after me\u2019. I tell her that I don\u2019t need \u2018looking after\u2019 and that Jo just helps me to live independently. <\/p>\n\n \n

Supporting your independence out and about<\/h2>\n \n

Nicola\u2019s live-in carer drives her to visit loved ones and accompanies her on days out.<\/p>\n \n \n

Having a driver is imperative to Nicola\u2019s independence and they make frequent shopping trips or go to the cinema. Together they often go and visit Nicola\u2019s family in St Helens, with more recent excursions including ventures to Blackpool.<\/p>\n

Underpinning all of the social outcomes is Jo\u2019s management of Nicola\u2019s complex personal support needs. This gives Nicola the confidence to go out in public and to truly enjoy the things she loves doing without worrying about her well-being.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

\n At this point in my life, I couldn\u2019t imagine having it any other way. Without Helping Hands I couldn\u2019t have returned to work, begun studying for my second degree in Psychology or gained as much independence as I have from my family. We\u2019ve been supporting Tracey to live independently in her own home since 2005. With an individualised service which incorporates both hourly and \u2018live-in, live-out care\u2019, Tracey\u2019s care package is a great example of how Helping Hands provides a truly person-centred service.<\/p>\n

Tracey aims to lead an independent life with maximised choice and autonomy. She has a Helping Hands carer who is on call at night, and daily support to help at key times.
